Shraddha is a lens-based artist and educator of Indian origin, whose professional and creative journey spans both India and the UK. A native of Madhya Pradesh in the central heart of India, she holds an MA in Photography from Middlesex University, London.
Her career began in photojournalism, where she crafted visual narratives before transitioning into education. In her practice, Shraddha explores solutions through her investigations, drawing connections between natural philosophies, the digital realm, and nature. Her work transforms her visual experiences into research-oriented practices, combining cognition with contemporary photography. She approaches her art with a deep understanding of how visual culture shapes our perception of the world. Some of her photographs have been selected for the National Geographic Traveler annual calendar and have earned a place in the International Wildlife Photography Contest by Intrepid Australia, where her image was chosen as one of the world's top ten.
Shraddha also contributes to the Global Biodiversity Education Society, Madhya Pradesh, India, as a research associate. She is involved in educational projects, conducting research in the fields of environmental science and biodiversity conservation, and sharing insights to inform and enhance educational practices. Her role includes investigating the relationship between education and biodiversity, with a focus on raising awareness and cultivating a deeper understanding of nature and its preservation within educational frameworks.
As a proponent of the intersection of art, education, and critical thinking, Shraddha is also developing visual teaching methodologies to inspire creativity and analytical thinking. In this spirit, she initiated Drishya Saksharta Abhiyan, a visual literacy initiative targeting Hindi-medium schools, aiming to enhance visual communication skills among students in under-resourced educational settings.
Her research also explores the role of color in visual perception and its influence on natural and urban environments.
Shraddha's work is rooted in the belief that visual literacy is fundamental in an ever-evolving digital world, equipping students with the tools to decode and engage with the constantly changing visual landscape. Her approach integrates nature-based learning, drawing inspiration from natural patterns and ecosystems to enhance visual understanding and develop sustainable thinking.
